Premise[]

Premise for the first book, The Eye of the World:

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

When The Two Rivers is attacked by Trollocs―a savage tribe of half-men, half-beasts― five villagers flee that night into a world they barely imagined, with new dangers waiting in the shadows and in the light.

Adaptations[]

In 1999, a video game adaptation was released, simply called The Wheel of Time. The game took the style of a first-person shooter from the point of view of an Aes Sedai named Elayna, who does not appear in any of the novels. The game received positive reviews, though was largely overshadowed by other games and has largely been forgotten since.

In 2015, the 22-minute short film Winter Dragon was released on television.

In 2021, the television series The Wheel of Time premiered on Prime Video.

Rosamund Pike narrated audiobooks[]

To correspond with the release of the first season, lead actress Rosamund Pike narrated an audiobook re-release of the first book The Eye of the World.[1] In 2022, the second book The Great Hunt was re-released narrated by Pike. The third book, The Dragon Reborn, was released in June 2023 ahead of the season two release.

Rosamund Pike's narration has been largely praised, and she has won two Audie Awards for her work on the series.[2][3]
