Design Live v13.8 FAQs
There is no extra cost to access the new Cloud. All you need to do is download Design Live 13.8.
All you need to do is download Design Live 13.8 to access the new Cloud. Here are some instructions from a Support Center article.
Cloud-based catalogs offer fast item retrieval, the ability to search and use multiple catalogs simultaneously, and the flexibility to update pricing separately from the catalog, enabling rapid error correction and price changes. Additionally, users can modify finishes and configurations within a design without duplicating the entire catalog.
Design Live users can request a catalog by accessing the Catalog Browser, finding the catalog that they want access to and clicking on the lock.
Permission to use a catalog is granted at a company level. Once access is granted to one user at a company, all users will then have access to that catalog.
The optimal approach to discovering new catalogs is through the cloud browser. While there are currently no notifications in place to inform users of new catalogs, our team is actively developing a system to promptly alert designers of any new additions in the near future.
If the latest cloud catalog is used, the prices are always up to date. If you are opening an old file and you choose not to update to the latest version of the catalog, the item will be displayed in a yellow warning pattern and the price will not be updated. (like with file base catalog)
If you find an issue in a cloud catalog, please contact Customer Support and they will pass the information on to the content team and ultimately the manufacturer so the issue may be fixed or further explained.
When opening a document that was done with a file base catalog, Design Live will ask you if you wish to migrate to the cloud. This is like the current “Switch item” flow.
If the dialog is not displayed, it could be because this catalog is not available on the cloud. If the catalog is available, please check if the file base catalog was renamed. A file base catalog must have its original name to be migrated to the cloud.
