Two traditional Indian desserts, Phirni and Kheer, have garnered global attention as they got recognised among the '10 Best Puddings in the World' by Taste Atlas, a food and travel guide.
Phirni, a north-Indian delicacy, claimed the 7th spot on the list. It is a creamy dessert made with ground rice, milk, sugar and aromatic cardamom.
Kheer, on the other hand, grabbed the 10th spot. While its ingredient base remains common – rice and milk, the final taste varies greatly depending on the spices, nuts and fruits added. This delightful pudding is usually made during festivals, carrying with it integral cultural significance.

Italy's universally loved Panna Cotta secured the eighth place, while Turkey left an indelible mark with three scrumptious sweet dishes. The oven-baked rice pudding, Firin sutlac, flavoured with rose water or vanilla, stands 2nd while the uniquely-prepared Kazandibi or 'burnt bottom pudding' and Tavuk gogsu, a pudding made from chicken breast, bagged the 5th and 9th positions respectively.
